The same advisor, year after year

The work that comes after the plan is in place: regular reviews, adjustments when your situation changes, and the same advisor each time.

The problem

When a plan is written once and filed away

A financial plan is accurate on the day it is finished. After that, incomes change, families grow, tax rules move and markets rise and fall. Without someone keeping it current, the plan slowly stops describing your life.

What ongoing advice includes

What happens after the plan is in place

  • Regular reviews

A scheduled review of the plan and the portfolio. [TO COME FROM TIM: how often]

  • Life events

A conversation when something changes, such as a new job, a move, an inheritance or a retirement date.

  • Adjustments

Changes to the plan and the portfolio when your goals or circumstances move.

  • Deadlines

A check on contributions and withdrawals before dates that matter, such as the RRSP deadline.

  • One advisor

The same person each time, who already knows the history behind your plan.

How it works

Where it fits in the process

Ongoing advice is the seventh step of the financial planning process: monitor and review. Tim tracks your progress and updates the plan when your life, your goals or the markets change.

Who it is for

For anyone who wants the plan kept current

Clients who want a long-term advisory relationship, with their plan reviewed year after year rather than written once.

What I value is that it’s the same person every time I call. Tim knows our history, so we never start from scratch.
